This is the best place to search for the rare Shoebill stork. The wetland, accessed by a canoe ride is located on the North West of Entebbe Peninsular, along the edge of Lake Victoria, the wetland is a sanctuary for over 260 bird species. This popular Ramsar Site, got its name from the local fishermen due to a huge quantity of lungfish “Mamba”, most sought after fish by fishermen as well as a favourite food for the shoebill.

A Community-Based Organisation established in 2003 to teach the community the importance of reptiles to the eco system and to encourage their conservation. It is home to 20 reptile species and over 50 reptiles including Black mamba, Jameson’s mamba, Rock Pythons, Vipers, Egyptian & Forest Cobras, Puff adders, Tortoises, Monitor lizards, Crocodiles together with Chameleons and many more. Proceeds from your visit help maintain the reptile village.

This was established in 1952 with a major aim of rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife. It is a collection of over 400 indigenous wild animals, 500 plant species and over 250 bird species depicting the Uganda’s three ecosystems: wetland, savannah and the forest.

The animals protected herein include; zebras, antelopes, monkeys & chimps, giraffes, cheetahs, rhinos, warthogs, lions and many more including birds like the shoebill, African fish eagle and reptiles. The latest addition are two tigers!

From UWEC continue to explore the Catholic History

Located on Lake Victoria shores. This place was a landing point for the first Catholic missionaries to Uganda (Brother Amans & Fr. Mon Maple Lourdel), 7th February 1879 on their mission to establish Christianity.

Visit the Catholic Church built in the memory of the missionaries, a local fishing community where you will interact with the locals.

You will take a break for lunch and refreshment at a local restaurant.

After lunch the tour continues and ends.

This eco-zone was established in 1898 on the northern shores of Lake Victoria and it protects a variety of tree species which have been in existence for hundreds of years, This place is a collection of species of plants of the tropical, sub-tropical and temperate zones, besides several shrubs and other plants which have regenerated naturally over the years, with over 309 species, 199 indigenous to Uganda, 122 with known medicinal value and 110 exotics. Feel the serenity of the cool breeze of Lake Victoria as you relax and unwind.
